When will PUBG Return?

Player Unknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG) is an online multiplayer battle royal game. It was released by PUBG Corporation, a subsidiary of the South Korean video game company Bluehole. This game is based on previous mods. It was created by Brendan “PlayerAnnan” Green for other games. It was inspired by the 2000 Japanese film Battle Royale and expanded into a full-fledged game under Green’s creative direction. In the game, up to a hundred players parachute into an island and look for weapons and equipment to kill others except to kill themselves. The available safe area of the game map decreases in size over time, leading the remaining players to tighter areas. The last player or team wins the standing round.

PUBG was first released in March 2017 via Steam’s initial access beta program for Microsoft Windows. It was released in full release in December 2017. The game was released in the same month by Microsoft Studios for Xbox One through its Xbox Game Preview program. PUBG Mobile 2018, a free-to-play mobile game version for Android and iOS was released in September 2018. A version for the Stadia streaming site was released in April 2020. PUBG is one of the best-selling video games of all time. The game has sold more than 70 million copies on personal computers and game consoles as of 2020, with PUBG Mobile amassing 734 million downloads and grossing $ 4.3 billion on mobile devices as of December 2020.

PUBG is currently banned in many leading countries such as India. PUBG has made several attempts to remove the ban.

The concept and design of the game was guided by Brendan Green. Well known for his online handle player Anno, he was previously inspired by ARMA 2 Mode Daisy: Battle Royale, a branch of the popular Mod Days, and the 2000 Japanese film Battle Royale.

He has lived in Brazil for some years as a graphic designer and web designer. Also Delta Force: Black Hawk Down and US Army DayZ Mode attracted his interest as a realistic military simulation and its open-ended game. Also started playing with custom server, learned programming as he went. Considering the maps to be small and easy to memorize, Green found that most multiplayer first-person shooters come back again and again. He wanted to create something with more random features, without the players knowing what to expect. Created a high level of reuse. This was done by creating very large maps that could not be easily memorized and using random item space across it. Green was inspired by an online competition for DayZ called SurZivor GameZ.

Many of these Twitch and YouTube streamers fought until only a few remained. Since he is not a streamer, Green wanted to create a similar game mode. His early efforts in this mode were further inspired by the novels The Hunger Games. There the soldiers will try to store weapons in a central location. But stay away from it, to give players a better chance of survival by spreading weapons around them, and avoid copyright issues with novels. Inspired by the Battle Royale movie, Green wanted to use the square safe areas. But his inexperience in coding led him to use rounded safe areas instead. This continued on the battlefields.
