Firing on Imran Khan: What Happened while participating in a protest rally

Pakistan’s former Prime Minister and former cricketer Imran Khan was shot dead during a protest rally in Wazirabad. He is 70 years old.

Members of his PTI party say four more people were injured in the attack on Thursday evening.

It was an attempt to kill him, an assassination attempt, one of his senior aides told the AFP news agency.

A man suspected of carrying out the attack was later arrested, Pakistan Geo TV reported.

After he was overthrown in April, Imran led a rally in the capital Islamabad demanding immediate re-election. That’s when he was shot.

In the footage related to this, it was seen that he was immediately taken to the hospital in Lahore.

A bullet hit him in the front of the knee, said one of his PTI party functionaries.

PTI party leader and provincial health minister Yasmeen Rasheed said Imran Khan’s condition is stable.

Disqualification

Last month, the Election Commission of Pakistan ordered that Imran Khan should not hold any public office. Imran Khan had said that the case that led to his disqualification was politically motivated.

He was accused of filing false details regarding the gifts received from foreign dignitaries during his tenure as Prime Minister, and of misrepresenting the income received from them when they were said to have been sold.

These controversial gifts include Rolex watches, rings, cufflinks, etc.
