Background

The development is currently the tenth largest building in the world in terms of floor area and is also referred to as the “largest building in the world built in a single phase” with a floor area of ​​700,000 m2 (7,500,000 square feet). The building houses a shopping mall, business offices and leisure centers with more than 1000 retail outlets, 1200 luxury service rooms, 65 food outlets and entertainment venues such as the Berjaya Times Square theme park.

In April 2005, the Borders Group opened its first owner’s store here, which was the largest border store in the world at the time. However, due to the economic downturn of 2010 it was reduced to a small operation called the Borders Express. In 2016, the Borders Express store closed.

The Impi Station of the Kuala Lumpur Monorail is connected to the building by a foot bridge.

History

Initially, the land belonged to millionaire and philanthropist Seong Yok Choi before World War II. His bungalow stood there until the Berjaya Group bought the entire land of Don Sri Vincent Don for the development of the current Berjaya Times Square Kuala Lumpur.
