Georgia Fish is a public fishery in Atlanta, Georgia, USA. The Georgia Aquarium has hundreds of species and thousands of animals in its seven main galleries, all of which are home to more than 10 million gallons (38,000 m3) of fresh and brackish water. It was the largest fishery in the world from its opening in 2005 until 2012, becoming the third largest fishery in the world after the Marine Park in Singapore and China’s Simelong Ocean Kingdom; Georgia Fisheries is the largest fishery in the United States and the Western Hemisphere.

The $ 250 million donation from the Bernard Marcus Foundation, a local business and co-founder of The Home Depot, provided much of the funding needed to build and save the new facility.

Notable specimens of the aquarium include whale sharks, beluga whales, California sea lions, bottlenose dolphins and manta rays.

History

In November 2001, Bernard Marcus announced his vision of providing Atlanta with a fishery that would promote education and economic growth. After visiting 56 fisheries in 13 countries with his wife Billy Marcus, he donated $ 250 million to become Georgia Fisheries.Corporate contributions allowed an additional 40 million fisheries to open up debt-free.

Jeff Swanagan, Founder and Managing Director until 2008, is proud to have created mostly fisheries, from the design of the structure to the purchase of animals for exhibitions.

Collection

The Georgia Aquarium contains hundreds of species and thousands of animals.

The fishery was designed at the 6.3 million gallon (24,000 m3) Whale Shark Exhibition, the only company with the largest species outside of Asia.
